Qld govt takes doctors to court
Lawyers for the state were due to appear before the Federal Court on Wednesday to try to stop doctors' groups and others spreading "misinformation" about proposed new contracts.
Some doctors and unions claim the contracts will strip employment protections and potentially compromise patient care.
But the government says they're being misleading and has applied for an injunction to silence the AMA and two unions.
It has taken issue with a website called Keep Our Doctors and an advertisement that warns of the collapse of the public health system.
Lawyers for Queensland Health and the State of Queensland claim the parties have broken consumer laws by engaging in misleading conduct.
A hearing was scheduled in the Federal Court in Brisbane on Wednesday morning.
