Queensland investigating legionnaire's risk

An official investigation into legionnaire's disease in Queensland has been launched following one death and the discovery of the causative bacteria in almost 30 hospitals around the state.

Queensland's public and private hospitals have been requested to test their hot-water systems for legionella bacteria after a 66-year-old man died and a 46-year-old woman became critically ill with legionnaire's disease at Brisbane's Wesley Hospital in June this year.

Twenty-nine hospitals have returned positive tests, with the latest round of results including Gin Gin Hospital, Gold Coast
