RACGP defends its fellowship exam

The RACGP has broken its silence to defend its fellowship exam, following a week of intense debate over the test's validity.

6minutes’ sister publication, Australian Doctor revealed that in April, just 446 of 1000 candidates passed the Key Feature Problem (KFP) — one of three exams registrars must pass to obtain their RACGP fellowship.

It has now come to light that pass rates for the entire fellowship exam swung dramatically between 60% and 90% from 2000 and 2008, fuelling claims the quality of the exam is to blame, rather than the candidates.
