RANZCP calls for curb on gambling ads

Psychiatrists have called for a gambling help telephone number to be displayed prominently in all betting advertising.

In a statement today, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) urged a parliamentary inquiry into gambling reform to curb advertising by betting companies.

It said the promotion of gambling on TV should be restricted to a set number of times per hour because of its impact on vulnerable groups and problematic gamblers.
