The reasons parents bypass GPs

Parents are taking children with minor illnesses to emergency departments due to misperceptions that GPs are too busy or too costly.

Almost 90% of lower urgency presentations from children aged 0-4 at EDs are for conditions such as earache, mild fever, and slight cough, according to an analysis of data from 38 Victorian hospitals between 2002 and 2013.

And findings presented at an Adelaide
