Reckitt Benckiser loses Nurofen appeal

Reckitt Benckiser has lost its a High Court appeal against a $6 million fine for misleading consumers with the marketing of Nurofen.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission first took the company to court in 2015 for its "specific pain range" packaging. The Federal Court last year increased the initial "inadequate" fine of $1.7 million to $6 million.

The High Court of Australia on Wednesday dismissed the company's appeal against the penalty and ordered it to pay legal costs. - AAP
