Record fine and ban for cardiologist’s misconduct

Perth cardiologist Dr Keith Woollard, who was AMA president between 1996 and 1998, was fined $75,000 by the WA State Administrative Tribunal after he admitted to professional misconduct in relation to his treatment of two patients, one of whom was a fellow doctor.

The judgement comes months after he was fined $20,000 for over-inflating a balloon catheter during an angioplasty on another patient in 2006.

Last year he was ordered to have supervision during any angioplasty or stenting procedures
