Red tape committee questions location rules and calls for GST change
It says pharmacies are being hampered by rules and regulations

The timing of pharmacies’ GST payments should be changed to improve cash flow and the benefit of location rules should be reassessed, says a Senate committee set up to slash red tape in the pharmacy sector.

The argument that location rules improve patient access to medicines is difficult to sustain, says an interim report by the committee.
“The committee understands that, despite multiple reviews favouring change, the Australian Government has chosen to disregard calls for more competitive and consumer-orientated arrangements.”
The report calls for a Council of
