Redcliffe SC saved by state government but denies financial woes

The project has been a frequent source of trouble for the $600 million plus infrastructure scheme. After investing an initial $10 million, the federal government was forced into providing a $3.2 million rescue package in October 2011 to the clinic, which at the time was scheduled to open at the start of this year.

But 12 months on, the facility’s clinical fitout remains incomplete with the Commonwealth health department confirming in recent months that the facility owner, Redcliffe Hospital Foundation (RHF), had not yet secured a clinical operator.

Sources close to the project told MO today that RHF staff had been notified they no longer had their jobs and that the foundation was trading insolvent.

However in a short email statement, RHF CEO Stephen Hart told MO “the foundation has no cash or solvency issues”.
