Redheads don't feel more pain: study

There is welcome news for redheads: Australian researchers have debunked the notion that they feel more pain than those with other hair colours.

A study of more than 450 adults undergoing general anaesthesia for elective surgery found redheads did not need additional pain relief during or after surgery, and had similar recovery times to patients with black and brown hair.
The research was prompted by earlier studies suggesting redheads were less sensitive to general anaesthetics.
