Rescheduling cuts benzo misuse

Rescheduling alprazolam (Xanax) has reduced misuse and reports of adverse events, two NSW studies show.

Alprazolam prescriptions fell by 22% and dispensing by 24% following the rescheduling of alprazolam from schedule 4 to schedule 8, a UNSW analysis of PBS data shows.
