Researchers highlight patients’ over-optimistic expectations

Patients overestimate the benefits of medical tests and treatments and underestimate their harms, according to an international review by two Queensland researchers.

This can lead doctors to prescribe interventions against their better judgment, report the researchers who reviewed  35 studies involving more than 27,000 participants.
