Risky drinking slow to run its course

Most young women will have grown out of the habit of risky drinking by the time they are in their late 30s, according to Australian research.

However, this is not the case for female smokers or ex-smokers who remain prone to drinking at unhealthy levels throughout their lives, finds the study of three generations of women.

Episodic risk drinking mostly declines with age, report the Australian researchers who define it as consuming more than four standard drinks on any one occasion at least once a month
