Rural health success reads like a fairytale for GP duo

However, for two general practitioners, Bourke has served as the scene of a health and business success story, as told in their self-published book.

A Medical Centre on the Moon is the story of the Ochre Health Group, founded by Tasmanian-born GP Dr Ross Lamplugh and New Zealand-born GP Dr Hamish Meldrum more than 10 years ago.

The two doctors met as colleagues in Bourke and went on to establish a locum business which has grown into a major rural medical provider, operating 14 medical practices across NSW and the ACT.
