School doctor program expanded

A Victorian trial that puts GPs in high schools has been beefed up after popular demand.

There are now 100 secondary schools in Victoria signed up to the program, which sees a doctor in situ one day a week.

Students are able to get referrals to specialists and prescriptions for medications.

Half of the participating schools are located in regional Victoria, where families often face barriers to accessing healthcare.
