Scientists protest impending WHO ruling on mobiles and cancer

AUSTRALIAN scientists have joined an international protest against any decision made this week by the WHO's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) on the carcinogenicity of mobile phone use.

The International Electro-Magnetic Fields (IEMF) Alliance has written an open letter to the IARC saying no decision should be made on the carcinogenicity of radiofrequency radiation until the remaining results of the key Interphone study are published, including pending data from Australia.

Studies in individual countries have suggested significant risks for acoustic neuroma, parotid gland tumour and glioma, it said.
