Senate report spells change for medical complaints process

Universities must adopt a curriculum that incorporates compulsory education on bullying and harassment, according to a Senate Inquiry report into the medical complaints process.

Among the recommendations, the report calls for institutions to accept greater responsibility for their students’ well being and adopt better procedures for dealing with complaints while students are on placement.

“This procedure should be clearly defined and a written copy provided to students prior to their placement commencing,” the report states.
