Senators call for U-turn on “ill-considered” PBS changes

A SENATE committee has urged an about-turn on the government’s changes to the listing of new medicines on the PBS, saying they were "profound and ill-considered".

The Senate's finance and public administration references committee said in a report released yesterday that the way the scheme is now administered threatens to politicise the listing of life-saving medicines and puts the integrity of the entire scheme at risk.

The findings come after the government announced in February it was deferring the listing of seven drugs
