Sexist playboys at risk of depression

Donald Trumps of this world, please take note: Men who behave like promiscuous playboys or who feel they have power over women are more likely to have mental health problems than those with less sexist attitudes.

So say the authors of an American study that links sexist behaviour to mental health issues such as depression and substance abuse.

"Some of these sexist masculine norms, like being a playboy and power over women, aren't just a social injustice but they are also potentially bad for your mental health," says Dr Joel Wong, an associate professor of counselling
