A study that set out to determine whether the use of “erotic stimuli” acts as a prompt for people to seek medical advice has caused an outcry among health academics and embarrassment for the Japanese authors.

The researchers placed pop-up health check-up services in amusement arcades, accompanied by actors dressed in a sexy nurse costume.
