Should 'idiot' slur have sparked inquiry?

The case of a Sydney GP who was investigated by the Health Care Complaints Commission after she called a patient an idiot has raised debate over whether the incident should have triggered an inquiry.

The Wagga Wagga GP Dr Robyn Pogmore (pictured) was found guilty of professional misconduct after calling a patient an idiot when he asked for prescriptions and a printed copy of his medical records because he was moving.

The incident that took place in 2008 led the patient to complain to the HCCC.
