As part of the debate on whether Australian doctors should be subject to competency checks, Dr Jay Ramanathan, a senior medical registrar based in Sydney has his say.

He supports revalidation - despite the "tsunami of opposition" - arguing that a core trait of professionalism is being open to scrutiny.
Last week Dr Brian Morton, chair of the AMA council of general practice said he believed revalidation was a waste of time.
