Sitting for too long raises risk of death

Adults can dramatically lower their short-term risk of dying by spending less time sitting behind a desk, and more time standing up, Australian research suggests.

In a study of more than 200,000 people, researchers found those who sat for longer than 11 hours a day had a 40% increased risk of dying over three years compared to those sitting less than four hours.
