Specialist wants end to OTC asthma relievers

Easy access to asthma relievers from pharmacies is deterring patients from seeing a GP, according to a respiratory specialist.

He says it’s a bad idea to have them available over the counter as there is a perception that

there’s “abundant” research to show patients with asthma are too dependent on short-acting beta-agonists, says Dr Simon Bowler, from Brisbane’s Mater Hospital.
