Spike in gout hospital cases blamed on doctors

The results of a large Swedish study presented at the Annual European Congress of Rheumatology (EULAR) 2017 last week reveal an increasing incidence of hospitalisation due to gout over the past decade.

This has been attributed to patients not receiving the recommended urate-lowering treatment (ULT), and not due to an ageing population, say the researchers.
