SSRIs associated with low risk of birth defects

The SSRIs paroxetine and fluoxetine confer a small increased risk of birth defects when used in early pregnancy, but there is no such association for other SSRIs, a major analysis shows.

The researchers say it is reassuring that the analysis shows no evidence to support previously reported associations between maternal sertraline use and birth defects, and no significant link between citalopram use and birth defects.
