Staff fraud the biggest crime threat to pharmacy

Fraud by staff is an increasingly common crime in community pharmacy, Guild Insurance experts say, warning that pharmacists must improve their processes to prevent potentially severe financial losses.

There were “alarming trends” in the frequency of cases of staff stealing cash, stealing goods to then sell online, or tampered with records or invoices, at a time when pharmacy burglaries were declining, says Leanne Toby, professional risk & development manager at Guild Insurance.
