State government urged to make changes to complaints laws

Citing Health Care Complaints Commissioner (HCCC) Kieran Pehm, a NSW parliamentary committee last month wrote to state health minister Jillian Skinner calling for an “amendment which would remove the requirement that complaints must be about the clinical management or care of an individual client”.

“The amendment would…allow complaints to be made about health organisations more generally without the need for direct clinical management to be proven,” the committee wrote.
