Statin discounting may go to conduct committee

The company made headlines this week by giving selected pharmacies up to $14,500 worth of Trovas and offering discounts of 90% on the government-listed price in a bid to build market share before up to 16 other generics hit the market from 1 June.

Meanwhile, with the government continuing to pay up to $73 each time the drug is dispensed on the PBS and consumers still being asked to pay a $35.40 co-payment, Consumer Health Forum CEO Carol Bennett said the situation called for an independent inquiry into the PBS.
