STI treatment rate falling short of diagnosis

Researchers from Sydney Medical School and the School of Public Health at the University of Sydney analysed data from the BEACH program from April 2000 until March 2012, looking at GP activity for the management of six STIs, including genital herpes, genital warts, HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis.

In total, 11,784 GPs recorded details of 1,178,400 patient encounters, including 115 cases of herpes per 100,000 encounters, 92 of genital warts, 67 of HIV, 39 of chlamydia, six of
