Strict rules unveiled for painkiller scripts

Doctors will now have to complete more paperwork in order to prescribe the painkillers Di-Gesic and Doloxene, including assessing every patient's risk of self-harm.

Under a raft of new conditions likely to be imposed on the drugs, doctors will need to complete a "Prescriber Confirmation Form" before pharmacists will be allowed to dispense them.
