Stronger warnings needed on NSAID cardio and renal risks

Experts are calling for NSAID warning labels to be expanded to include risks for people with renal complications, while a recent review has highlighted shortfalls in warnings over the drugs’ cardiovascular risks.

In a letter in the latest Medical Journal of Australia, pharmacist Ron Batagol says a new warning label should be added to all non-prescription NSAIDs cautioning against their use by people who are renally compromised for any reason.
