Study backs pelvic-floor exercises for mild prolapse

Women with mild vaginal prolapse who don’t qualify for surgery or pessary treatment should be encouraged to do pelvic floor exercises, evidence in the BMJ suggests.

The research shows women receiving pelvic floor muscle training are four times more likely to report an improvement in symptoms than those receiving no treatment.

The study is the first to analyse cases of mild prolapse, according to the Dutch researchers.
