Study highlights gaps in private postpartum care

Women who give birth in public hospitals tend to be more confident parents than their private patient peers, say researchers from the University of Queensland.

This is despite the fact that women who give birth privately enjoy longer hospital stays.

The researchers suggest the type of care provided during a long hospital stay may, in fact, disempower the new mothers in the early postpartum period.
