Study refutes CHD risk from calcium supplements

There is little evidence calcium supplementation with or without vitamin D increases coronary heart disease (CHD) in elderly women, a study has shown.

The International researchers, including Australians, made the finding in a meta-analysis of 18 randomised controlled trials involving more than 63,000 elderly women.
They found no significant increase in all-cause mortality or coronary heart disease events.
