Sunscreen firm abused public's trust: panel

A sunscreen company that made claims implying rival sunscreens contain chemicals that are “more dangerous than the sun itself” has been found to have abused consumers’ trust.

A complaint to the Therapeutic Products Advertising Complaints Resolution Panel raised concerns about an advertisement on the website of Skin Elements that claimed many sunscreens contained “dangerous” chemicals such as oxybenzone and titanium dioxide.
The ad contained phrases such as, “some doctors claim [oxybenzone is] more dangerous than the sun itself” and
