Swaddling cuts pain post-vaccination

Swaddling and shushing infants after immunization significantly relieves pain, and is more effective than a dose of sugar, research finds.

The technique — known as the five S’s — involves rapidly swaddling the infant in a blanket after immunisation, turning them onto their side or stomach, swaying and shushing them, and giving them a dummy to suck.
