Tai Chi effective in Parkinson’s

Tai Chi in conjunction with medication improves mobility and balance in people with Parkinson’s disease, according to a new meta-analysis.

Results from nine studies involving 400 people with mild-to-moderate Parkinson’s disease showed improvements in terms of general motor symptoms, balance, mobility and stride length, with few adverse events.

A Tai Chi program plus medication also reduced the number of falls in Parkinson’s patients but only in programs that lasted six months or more, data showed.
