Targeting tumour DNA to treat cancer

Specialists at the Institute of Cancer Research in London claim that by analysing a patient's tumour, and determining its DNA and genetic code, they can administer specific drugs to keep the disease at bay.

"We should be aspiring to cure cancer, but for people with advanced disease, it will be a question of managing them better so they survive for much longer – for many years," institute chief executive Professor Alan Ashworth told British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

"Cancer often appears in people who are old, and if we can keep them
