Texting improves meds adherence

Text messages can improve medication adherence in patients receiving treatment for cardiovascular disease, a new study shows.

The UK researchers used 303 subjects to assess the value of text messaging as a way of improving their adherence to blood pressure and/or lipid-lowering treatment for cardiovascular disease.

The participants were randomised to two groups, with one receiving regular text message reminders regarding their medication, and the other receiving no text messages.
