TGA and supplier recall ACE inhibitor batches

Pharmacists are asked to check their stock for telltale signs of contamination

Three batches of Apo-Perindopril have been recalled.

The problem is that fine particles of dark silica seem to have escaped the desiccant cylinder placed in bottles to absorb moisture, say the TGA and supplier Apotex.

The telltale sign of contamination is specks on the tablets or a fine dust coating on the tablets or inside of the bottle.

“This potential contamination is classified as a quality defect and is not considered to impact product safety or efficacy.”

The affected batches are:

  • Apo-Perindopril Arginine 2.5mg — NC6619 EXP
