TGA to implement complementary medicine investigations

The authority has embarked on a series of reforms, including a number of recommendations from the auditor-general’s report on the regulation of complementary medicines, published last year.

Currently, complaints lodged with the TGA about advertisements for therapeutic goods directed at consumers are not subject to a standardised process of investigations or timeframes.

The reforms will change that, with the TGA aiming to implement the investigation processes by next month and with timeframes to be developed and incorporated
