Thailand warns tourists over malaria
Thailand has issued a malaria warning to people planning to visit forests during the peak tourist season.
"Malaria-carrying mosquitoes are commonly found in forests bordering Myanmar, particularly in Kanchanaburi province", says disease control spokesperson Dr Vichan Pawan.
Other danger areas popular with tourists include Tak, Songkhla, Narathiwat, Ubonratchathani, Maehongson, Sisaket, Chiangrai and Pattani.
The government says 5,051 foreigners have contracted malaria so far this year. - DPA
