Time to ditch 'schizophrenia', say experts

The term ‘schizophrenia’ should follow other archaic terms like ‘lunatic’ and be phased out of the medical lexicon, say international researchers.

The change in name “would reduce the stigma and benefit communication between clinicians, patients and families”, according to psychiatrists including Professor Scott Henderson at the Australian National University.
