Time running out for internship plan
Federal Health Minister Tanya Plibersek’s attempt to create an extra 100 intern positions for next year appears to be in disarray, as time runs out to accredit new training hospitals.
Ms Plibersek said on Tuesday night the government was “committed” to creating the extra places for some of the 180 graduating international students likely to miss out on a spot in 2013.
Most places are expected to be in private hospitals as part of the one-off measure announced last week.
But as a stand-off with the states over the plan continues, Ms Plibersek said
