Too much focus on stroke in AF

Stroke has been long recognised as the main danger for people with atrial fibrillation but the latest evidence suggests they are actually at higher risk for a range of cardiovascular and renal problems.

A meta-analysis of 104 studies involving nearly 10 million people shows a 64% higher risk of chronic kidney disease in AF. Sudden cardiac death is 88% more likely and AF almost doubles the risk of a major CV event.
