UK GPs up in arms

GPs in the UK have experienced their seventh successive decrease in take-home pay as rises in practice expenses continue to outstrip increases in earnings, according to an article in The BMJ.

New figures show the average before-tax net income of contractor GPs was £102,000 (A$188,000) in 2012-13, down from £104,100 (A$192,000) in 2011-12.

The figures mean that the average annual income of contractor GPs has fallen by 22% since 2005-06, when it was £129 994.
