UK GPs prepare for the Olympics

GPs in London are being armed with a new test that can detect the cause of gastrointestinal disease within 24 hours in preparation for an expected rise in cases of diarrhoea and vomiting due to an influx of visitors for the Olympics.

The test is part of a raft of ‘Games Ready’ measures being implemented by the UK’s Health Protection Agency (HPA), which aims to ensure the country’s health service can better manage outbreaks
