Under-vaccination a big issue for refugees
Under-vaccination is the number-one health problem facing newly arrived refugees, a leading GP advocate says.
Dr Margaret Kay, a senior lecturer in general practice at the University of Queensland, said inadequate immunisation was the biggest issue when treating refugees, ahead of more widely publicised problems such as mental health.
"Nearly every GP is seeing some refugees... [so they need to] be aware the immunisations probably aren't up-to-date and work out what needs to be done," she said.
