“There were a couple of families that I was involved with as a GP where I thought, ‘I could have done better’,” she said.
“I thought that even when they were visiting for common coughs and colds I should really have thought about vaccines,” said Dr Woods, who works at Rozelle Total Health in Sydney.
For one family it was a dog bite suffered by a child in a country where rabies was a real concern. Another family returned to Australia from a visit to their home village in Thailand with typhoid.
